# 069 - Lighthouses of Croatia

Many thanks to my friend Tomi from Croatia for sending me this First Day Cover which feature the Lighthouses of Croatia 2009 issue. The three stamps were issued by Croatia Post on 11.09.2009. The three lighthouses are L- R:Gruica, Strazica and Voscica lighthouses.

# 068 - Lighthouses of China

This is another jewel in my collection. Many thanks to Hai Huang from Hubei, China for sending me this cover. This issue titled "Modern Lighthouses of China" feature from L-R: Dalian, Guishan Island, Wusongkou and Mulantou Lighthouses. The State Post Bureau of China issued the four stamps on 22.05.2006.

# 067 - Lighthouses of Spain

This cover feature six stamps issued on 06.06.2007 by the Spanish Postal Service. From L- R: stamps feature Punta del Hidalgo (Tenerife), Cabo Mayor (Cantabria), Punta Almina (Ceuta), Melilla, Cabo de Palos (Murcia) and Gorliz (Biscay) Lighthouses. Today I want to show you a a first day cover issued by Royal Mail on 22.03.1998 featuring Lighthouses of the United Kingdom. This is from my own private collection of FDC's.
L-R: St. John's Point, The Smalls, Needles Rock, Bell Rock and Eddystone Lighthouses.

Unfortunately this is a good example of how the post office can destroy a stamp with a bad machine cancellation. Friends please try and get the post office to use a hand cancellation where ever possible. I know it can be dificult at times. Thanks for your understanding.

Received through Postcrossing (DE 461351) from Wilhelm Janssen who lives in Germany. Thank you very much. Norderney Lighthouse is featured on this stamp which was issued on 02.07.2009. Wilhelm was kind enough to send this postcard where on the reverse the Lighthouse of Pilsum is featured.

Thank Jose Luis for this cover which features 3 stamps from the Spanish issue titled "FAROS 2008" (Lighthouses 2008). On the cover you can see the stamps featuring from L-R: Silleiro,
Torredembarra and Punta de la Orchilla lighthouses. The stamps were issued on 02.09.2008. Cover # 55 feature the other 3 stamps of this issue.

On this cover you can see three of the six stamps issued on 02.09.2008 by the Spanish Postal authorities titled "Faros 2008". From L - R: the stamps feature the lighthouses at Cap Babaria, Irta and Punta Pechiguera.

I am back after two weeks. Today I can show you another cover which I have received from Janek who has now become a regular sender of covers to me. Thanks very much for the cover Janek. You see the two lighthouses L-R: Laidunina and Mohni. The two stamps were issued on 20.02.2002 and 24.01.2001 respectively.

# 053 - Lighthouses of Norway

Here you will see the Lyngor lighthouse in Norway. The stamp is one from the tourist series issued on 12.04.2008. The lighthouse is seen to the extreme left of the stamp. Received via postcrossing.

# 052 - Lighthouses of U.S.A

My first cover from the USA. Many thanks to my uncle Lakshman for sending this cover which features the issue titled "Gulf Lighthouses of USA". The US Postal service issued these stamps in June 2009. The lighthouses featured are L-R: Sand Island - Alabama, Biloxi - Mississipi, Sabine Pass - Louisiana, Matagorda Island - Texas and Fort Jefferson - Florida.

# 051 - Lighthouses of Germany

Many thanks to Torsten from Germany. The cover features the two lighthouses stamps issued in 2009 Dornbusch (55) and Norderney (45). Torsten has been my friend for over 15 years.

This cover sent by Otto Lehis shows the Juminda lighthouse. The stamp was issued on 08.03.07 by Esti Post. Many thanks to my friend who is helping me with my collection of lighthouses covers.

# 049 - Lighthouses of Canada

Courtesy Onkar from Canada I received this cover which shows the Cape Jourimain lighthouse near the Confederation Bridge linking New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. The lighthouse was discontinued in 1997 after the bridge was built, but continues to remind of the area's maritime heritage. The set of se-tenent stamps was issued on 31.05.2007 by Canada Post.

Here is another cover from Estonia. Thank you very much Janek for this beautiful cover. The lighthouses featured on the cover are L - R: Ristna, Kopu (stamps issued on 25.02.2000) and Ruhnu (stamp issued on 11.02.1997) lighthouses.

# 047 - Lighthouses of Germany

Thanks Gottfried for this second cover featuring the 2009 lighthouses stamps issued by Germany. Details of the issue is given against cover # 046. However this cover is cancelled with the "Bonn" post mark cancellation. There are two official first day cancelation in Germany. One with the "Berlin" and the other with the "Bonn" post mark.

Germany issues 2 stamps featuring lighthouses annually since 2005. Here are the latest stamps featuring the Norderney and Dornbusch lighthouses. The stamps were issued on 02.07.2009.
The cancellation on this cover is the "Berlin" postmark. Thank you very much Gottfried.

# 044 - Lighthouses of Germany

Here I present to you two stamps from German lighthouses series issued in 2005. They are the from L-R: Greifswalder Oie and Roter Sand lighthouses. This card was received via postcrossing and was sent to me by Simone who also took the trouble to put the stamps on a matching post card which feature the Roter Sand lighthouse. Thanks Simone for the trouble taken.

# 043 - Lighthouses of Canada

Another cover from Onkar. The cover features the four stamps issued on 21.09.1984 by Canada Post on the occasion 250th anniversary of the completion of Louisbourg, the first Canadian lighthouse. The cover features top row L-R: Gibraltar Point and Ile Verte and bottom row L-R: Fisgard and Louisbourg Lighthouses. The issue is titled "Oldes Lighthouses of Canada"

Another cover from Estonia. Once again thanks to Janek who is helping me with my collection. The cover feature the Tallinn Twin Lighthouses. The stamps were issued on 12.04.2006 by Esti Post.

This cover features from L- R: Penedo da Saudade and Esposende lighthouses from the series Portuguese Lighthouses issued on 19.06.2008. Many thanks to Nuno Marques from Portugal for sending me this cover.

Another jewel in my collection, this time thanks to Valeria from Brasil. I appreciate very much the efforts Valeria made to get these stamps issued on 18.09.1995. The cover features L- R: Santo Antonio da Barra, Olinda and Sao Jao Lighthouses from the series Lighthouses of Brasil.

# 038 - Lighthouses of Estonia

When I published the first cover featuring Estonian lighthouses stamps (# 023), I wrote that I hope to show the different stamps issued by Esti Post with the help of my many friends in Estonia. Thanks to Otto Lehis I can now show you another cover featuring L - R: Pakri Lighthouse (stamp issued on 05.07.1995) and Mehikoorma Lighthouse (stamp issued on 24.01.2008).

# 037 - Lighthouses of Cuba

Many thanks to Loreto DelaCruz Perez from Cuba for sending me this cover. One of the stamps feature a lighthouse stamp issued on 27.08.1990 to mark the UN Congress on Crime Prevention. The Morro Castle Lighthouse can be seen on the stamp.

Thanks to my many friends my collection continues to grow. This is another cover from Janek Lepp from Estonia. The cover shows the two stamps issued on 11.01.2005. They are the Norrby Twin Lighthouses on Vormsi Island built in 1935.

WOW this is one of the jewels in my collection. Lighthouses of New Zealand. The stamps glow in the dark.Thanks to Jillian from New Zealand for sending this beautiful cover with all 5 stamps issued on 07.01.2009. L - R: Pencarrow, Dog Island, Cape Brett, Cape Egmont and Cape Reinga Lighthouses are featured on the stamps. Jillian visited my blog and found that I did not have any from New Zealand and sent this cover. Many thanks again.

# 032 - Lighthouses of Canada

Another cover from Onkar from Canada who continues to help me with my collection. He took trouble to find these 4 stamps issued on 03.10.1985 titled Modern Lighthouses of Canada. The stamps feature - Top L - R: Pelee Passage, Sister Islets and Bottom L - R: Haut - fond Prince, Rose Blanche Lighthouses. I am encouraged when my collection grows with covers featuring issues from older years. This shows that vivews appreciate my work.

Thanks to Tomi from Croatia for sending this cover. This FDC which has been validated for posting with the post office date stamp feature the 2008 issue of Croatian Lighthouses. The stamps feature L - R: Pinida, Vnetak and Zaglav Lighthouses.

Many thanks to Kasinath for sending me this cover. It is the FDC of the Minicoy Lighthouse issued on 02.02.1985. Kasinath fixed additional stamps on the reverse of the cover and posted the cover to me. I have been looking for a cover with this stamp for so long and now my efforts have paid dividends.

Courtesy Janek from Estonia, I received this beautiful cover. The two lighthouses on the cover are L- R: Sorgu (stamp issued on 07.01.2004) and Keri (stamp issued on 15.01.2003). Eesti Post has been issuing a stamp annually since 1995 featuring a lighthouse. Hopefully I will display all the stamps in the near future thanks to my many friends from Estonia.
