#549 - Lighthouses of Croatia

 

Thank you to my friend Nikola Panduric from Croatia for sending me this great cover.  The stamps feature Pokonji dol, Sv Petar and SV Nikola lighthouses. The 3 stamps were issued on 31.05.2012 by Croatian Post.

 

# 543 - Lighthouses of Portugal

 

Many thanks to Pedro from Portugal for sending me this cover which features a MS and a stamp of Santa Marta Lighthouse is Cascais in Portugal. Pedro posted this cover on the first day of issue with a first day cancelation. The stamp and the MS were issued to commemorate the 25th UPAEP Congress held in Cascais, Portugal. 

The MS and the stamp issue took place on 13.04.2026

The stamps on the cover feature  L - R Palagruza Lighthouse, Struga Lighthouse and Susac Lighthouse.

These stamps are from the Croatian Lighthouses issue of 2014. Stamps were issued on 30.05.2014

# 499 - Lighthouses of Germany

 

This is the second cover from Ulf Gebhard (the first being cover no 498). On this cover the First Day Cancelations are from Bonn. The stamp feature Alte Weser Lighthouse.

Ulf tells me that this will be the last issue of the German Longhouses stamp series which commenced in 2004.

The stamp on this cover features Alte Weser Lighthouse. The stamp was issued on 4th July 2024. On this cover Ulf has obtained for me the Berlin First Day cancelation.

# 418 - Augustin Fresnel (1788 - 1827), Inventor of Fresnel Lense

On 03.05.2019 France issued this stamp to honour Augustin Fresnel, the inventor of Fresnel Lense which are now widely used in Lighthouses.

# 411 - Lighthouses of Germany.

On 6th June 2019 Germany issued a new stamp featuring the Lighthouse of Campen. This is entirely a new design deviating from the design of the previous years. This cover has a first day of issue Bonn cancellation.

Sri Lanka Post issued 4 stamps on 26 November 2018 featuring Lighthouses of Baberyn at Beruwala, Point Pedro, Galbokka Point at Colombo and Oluvil. These are feature on this cover from left to right.

4 separate  miniature sheets were issued at the same time. These can be seen on posts to follow.

It shows how efficient the South African Postal service is. many thanks for Kyle from South Africa for sending me this FDC featuring Lighthouses of South Africa. The four stamps feature Pelican Point (Top Left), Green Point (Top Right), Cape Agulhas (Bottom Left) and Umhlanga Rocks (Bottom Right). the four stamps were issued on 09.06.1988.
